5 Reasons to be with cloudHQ

Hi Folks
My current job involves handling lots of documents ( tech and non-tech) and I always rely on Web based storage to enable me to work on the move. I have a a google account based drive, which is my main and also have a dropbox ( has a few advantages over google drive, which I will explain in a subsequent post). I had to to go through the rigour of ensuring that both stayed in sync, till I stumbled cloudHDQ.

It does a great job of making sure both storages stay in sync. The method is very simple and straight forward. Those of you who are rsync fans...you will love this

Tata Sky sucks

When Tata Sky was launched a couple of years ago I was one of the few proud owners (thanks to a gift by my Sis)who was thrilled by the fact that you did not have to deal with a tough looking cable wallah who milked you for small things...and so poor was the quality of his service..less said the better.

When Tata came into the cable TVscene one assumed that things would change....Changed it has..but not sure in which direction. I am not really worried about the constantly increasing rates and shuffling the channels into different bundles to reach into the depths of your pocket. But I am worried about the quality of subscriber interaction. On that count Tata Sky is able to barely limp home. Even after pointing it out to them a number of times I see no improvement. They have 2 modes to get back to them..through the internet using their portal(?) and the other is through their call center (I can understand why so many Americans berate and bitch about this service from India).

Let us start with their portal..I suggest that readers experiment with what I am saying as they read through as proof...

1.http://www.tatasky.com/
The above site does not have basic info like which browser for which it has been optimized..I have tried it with both Internet Explorer and Firefox and it just doesn't finish loading at all

2.Log in Link
After clicking incessantly for more than 20 times it opened a half filled page and at times none. Again no browser specific redirection and hence it is very flaky. I wouldn't dare to use my card on such a page to pay money..............................no never

3.Grievance Numbers
The numbers listed at item number 5 of the above url DO NOT exist...can you beat that??..And of late even the call centre numbers are hard to get..I managed to get through at only 6 AM in the morning and that too did not last for more than a minute

4.Contact Us
Usually companies give access to direct lines so as to have a channel that feeds first hand information. Not so here..no names, no designations, no roles listed here..just a blank mail to page that one tends to see in Mom and Pop shows

5.Overall
I have never seen such a slow consumer portal...even the government owned Railway portal works much faster..they really need to add bandwidth here..let us remember that speed does matter in a consumer portal. If google took 10 seconds to show results we wouldn't go back there to search...right??

6.The Call Centre
I have a lot to say here..but I will restrict it to the main ones
a.Why only 3 contact numbers for an All India project..why not atleast all state capitals and then take a divert??
b.I am not sure if a management team is auditing the process and quality of the 'connect to service exec' quality in terms of time taken, menus played and length of promotions...Trust me this is horrible...why would I call a Hyderabad number and listen to company promotion messages and not talk to a call agent quickly and tell my problem??

7.Overall
I subscribed for a certain package and then I find that BBC has been dropped. Now they say that there is a fine print that says 'Tata Sky can change anything at no notice or short notice'..Well well well..this is exacty I thought will not happen with a Tata name.
For some reason I am reminded of what Mario Puzo wrote in 'The Godfather'..a lawyer with his briefcase can steal more than a thief with a gun....................

I rest my case
